It's Celtic Heritage Week on Vancouver Island! Fàilte!

Celtic Heritage Week on Vancouver IslandThe 11th Annual Summer School and Concert Series - known to many as the best Celtic summer camps and concerts of Celtic arts on the western seaboard - runs July 17-22, 2011. The entire festival this year is in beautiful Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. CeltFest Vancouver Island offers both a world class international summer school and an exciting community concert and event series offered during "Celtic Heritage Week", so proclaimed by Nanaimo City Hall recently! Grand Opening Celebration is at Maffeo-Sutton Park on the downtown Nanaimo waterfront at 4:30 Saturday, July 16th. Admission is free of charge.   See also Special Workshops during the week. NEW! CeltFest Summer School:

CeltFest's unique summer school, taught by world-class instructors at Vancouver Island University (VIU), offers a full week of programs and workshops in disciplines from dance and pipes to singing, accordion, harp, crafts, guitar, fiddle, penny whistle and even Celtic poetry! That is just to name a few. From beginner to professional and for all ages, CeltFest features something for everyone in your family.

CeltFest Concert Series

Complete CeltFest Concert ExperienceThe public concert series , featuring internationally-celebrated performing artists, gathers plenty of momentum with nightly Ceilidhs and performances open to all throughout the week. See the promotional video here. The series kicks-off Tuesday evening with the CeltFest classic, the "Wacky Jig & Hornpipe Contest", a Family Pub Night, with a called ceilidh dance to follow. Back by popular demand with a whole new line up of Celtic Divas, is "The Celtic Women II" on Wednesday at VIU's Malaspina Theatre. 

CeltFest 2011 bids a fond farewell Thursday evening, with a "Sunset and Stars" Gala performance at Nanaimo's downtown waterfront Port Theatre, with a stunning line up of all 2011 CeltFest artists--- and guests!  This year's finale features a special "Tribute to the Military Tattoo" theme.
